Ariadne Greek Goddess of the Labyrinth and Minoan Goddess of Crete.
Ariadne helped Theseus by giving him a sword and a ball of thread (in some stories, a crown of bright jewels) so he could find his way out of the labyrinth once he slew her half-brother, the Minotaur. Afterward, Theseus leaves her on the island of Naxos where Dionysis meets her and takes her into a happily ever after life -gifting her the Corona Borealis to be worn as her crown, and he being the most loyal of all partners, making theirs a true love story.
-When going through troubled times.
-When needing to figure things out to make important life decisions.
-To help you in slaying “the Minotaur” – helping you face your fears, your past, your pain in order to push through and come into the light and freedom of being.
At her Altar, make offerings:
Ritual:
Make a Labyrinth by drawing it on paper, use clay, or with small stones in your yard. Make it in her honor as an offering and a prayer to assist you in going deeply into the depth of your soul, into the scary places – slay the Minotaur – and follow her signs and symbols to bring you back out into the light. The light is there, waiting for you…. but you have to go through the darkness, through the process of the labyrinth – there is no way out, but through.
The Labyrinth represents the journey to our own center and back again out into the world both literally and metaphorically. This is an awakening process, that is not necessarily about wading through the darkness in order to “fix” it, instead, it is about rising above it. It is about raising ourselves so high that the darkness has no choice but to fall away.
