Description
THIS LISTING IS FOR A REPRODUCTION ON CANVAS OF MY ORIGINAL OYA OIL PAINTING
Oya is the Orisha of wind, storms, and change in Yoruba tradition. She guides people through life’s biggest transitions and clears the way for new beginnings. Her storms may seem fierce, but they help remove what no longer serves us. As a guardian of the dead, Oya also watches over the line between life and death and helps guide spirits to the afterlife.
She is a strong warrior, often shown with a sword or lightning, and stands for justice, courage, and female power. Oya protects women and gives strength during times of challenge. Her followers turn to her for truth and the bravery to face change. Though powerful and intense, she is also wise and caring to those who honor her.
Oya is worshiped in many parts of the world, from West Africa to the Americas. People honor her with offerings of copper, eggplant, and cloth in her nine sacred colors. Her symbols, the wind, the tornado, and the buffalo, show her force and energy. To honor Oya is to accept change and face it with strength and purpose.
