Description
THIS LISTING IS FOR A REPRODUCTION ON CANVAS OF MY ORIGINAL EOS OIL PAINTING
Eos is the Greek goddess of the dawn. With rosy fingers and golden robes, she lifts the world from darkness and wakes it with the first light of day. Though soft and graceful, she is powerful and integral.
She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister to Helios, the sun god, and Selene, the moon goddess. Eos is known for her beauty, but her stories often speak of longing. She fell in love many times, especially with a mortal named Tithonus. She asked Zeus to make him live forever, but forgot to ask for eternal youth, so he grew old without dying. This story reminds us that love and time can be both beautiful and sad.
Eos is often shown with wings or riding a chariot across the sky. She stands for hope, new beginnings, and the quiet strength to start again. Honoring Eos means greeting the morning with open arms and believing that the light will always return.
