Description
THIS LISTING IS FOR A REPRODUCTION ON CANVAS OF MY ORIGINAL THE MORRIGAN OIL PAINTING
The Morrigan is a powerful and mysterious goddess from Irish mythology, connected to war, fate, and death. Her name means “Great Queen” or “Phantom Queen.” She often appears before battles to predict victory or defeat. The Morrigan can move between the world of the living and the dead, and she can change shape, often becoming a crow or raven. Her presence brings both fear and respect, as she reveals what is coming.
She is sometimes seen not as one goddess, but as a group of three: Badb, Macha, and Nemain. Each represents a different side of battle and chaos. The Morrigan does not fight with weapons, but uses prophecy, magic, and fear to shape what happens in war. She is not just a goddess of death, but one of cycles and change.
The Morrigan stands for sovereignty, transformation, and wild, natural power. She reminds people to respect the land, fate, and the unseen forces that guide life. To honor her is to accept truth, face change with strength, and understand that every ending leads to something new.
