GUARDIAN OF THE UNDERWORLD AND KEEPER OF BALANCE
Hel is the Norse goddess of the underworld, ruler of Helheim, the realm of the dead. Daughter of Loki and the giantess Angrboða, Hel embodies the duality of life and death, light and darkness. Half of her body is that of a beautiful woman, while the other half is decayed, representing the inevitability of death and the cycle of life.
As the guardian of souls, Hel receives those who die of illness or old age, providing them with shelter and peace in her realm. Unlike the fearsome portrayal in later Christian interpretations, the Norse Hel is a complex deity who maintains the delicate balance between the world of the living and the dead.
Hel’s realm, Helheim, is not a place of punishment, but rather a neutral afterlife for most souls. It is described as a misty, cold place, yet not without its own beauty and tranquility. Here, Hel reigns supreme, dispensing justice and maintaining order among the souls in her care.
Hel’s Message
Embrace the wholeness of life, including its darker aspects. Hel reminds us that death is not to be feared, but accepted as part of the natural cycle. She encourages us to face our shadows, integrate our whole selves, and find strength in accepting both the light and dark within us.
Hel teaches us about impartiality and fairness. As a judge of souls, she looks beyond surface appearances to see the truth of each individual. She challenges us to do the same – to judge less and understand more, to look beyond our biases and see the complexity in every situation.
The “Sacred Mothers and Goddesses” carry their energy through their image and form similar to how a Crystal carries it’s energy to us. You can work with them and allow them to work with you. All of my pieces have come into being with love and surrender to the Sacred Feminine and with the intention of bringing beauty and connection to your life.
They are a visual manifestation of Divine power and grace, containing the actual energy that they represent, a gift for me to share with you.
