Butterfly Maiden and the Chrysalis are powerful reminders of the transformations we make during our life’s journey. Whether changes within us or around us, we are continually going through cycles as we evolve into our best self. There is a story of death and rebirth, of one kind of beauty, becoming another through death, darkness, silence, and the passing of time until all is as it should be for a new beautiful being to emerge from the Chrysalis where it has been safely becoming more beautiful that the caterpillar could have ever imagined.
We go into our “Chrysalis” when times call us to retreat for a bit from the challenges in our lives, to take time to be introspective, to do radical self care as you deal with issues that trouble you and are in need of transformation – facing your shadow self, facing the loss of loved ones, divorce, illness– it is when you-as the caterpillar, are to (symbolically) gently wrap yourself in silken threads (self care) as you become a pulpy, mush that will (quite magickally!) become a beautiful butterfly when the time is right.
It is worthy to note that when a butterfly begins to emerge from the Chrysalis, she must not be rushed, or helped in any way as she forms her wings even while she is emerging, and if rushed, she will never fully form and die. This is a reminder for you to be gentle with yourself and give yourself the necessary time in the comfort and safety of the Chrysalis to do the work and healing that needs to be done without rushing the process- without ignoring the emotions, old patterns and shadows that must be dealt as you face your truths and find your voice. The mushy old self, transforming into something entirely new and gorgeous!
Come out slowly and gently to spread your wings and fly high!
