Greek mythology tells us about many Gods and Goddesses and we can search back in history to find that the Goddess was
Whether you believe in Gods and Goddesses or not, you can at least think of them as part of our human consciousness- archetypes that are symbolic, and represent forces and intelligence that operate within us/our human nature. The personalities, powers and myths encode symbolic truths from which we can all learn. For those people like myself, who believe in an *All that Is* a Sacred Divine *something* that we are all a part of and for which the basic foundation is Love.
There are so very many paths, Gods and Goddesses, but at the same time, each hero, God, and Goddess represents something inside of us. We can learn to walk on this earth with grace and compassion, towards ourselves and others….. a little bit each day in the wholeness of Love and Light.
That, is living like a Goddess and that is what I myself strive to each day.
In 2013 I painted my first Goddess. It was the Virgin Mary. Having been raised Catholic, I loved her- yet in my teens, my family moved to the USA where my parents became born again Christians and the Madonna was banished from our home.
Forward years later as I began to discover the Sacred path of the Divine Feminine…. not only did I understand why I have painted women all my life (a journey to mother myself as my own mother was abusive). The Virgin Mary came back into my life in miraculous ways…. and she brought with her all the other forms of the Goddess into my life and so it continues…..
Each Goddess begins in the same way, prayers a lit candle and incense. I bless the canvas/paper with Reiki and then I relax into it (usually watching a movie or listening to an audio book)– I draw the eyes first and then allow it all to happen intuitively. Usually by the second or third day, it is time to consult my set of Goddess oracle cards and have the Goddess who is only a sketch… reveal herself to me. Every time. every single time. I am *floored* at the mirmagical serendipitous messages she brings to us. It is always *spot on*…… Once I know who she is, I look at the most basic meaning of what type of Goddess she is for salient symbolism, and then I work. Lots of symbolism in both color and form, gets revealed to me by the Goddess herself and may not always “match” most searches online for her…. but if you *dig deep* enough- you will find it is so.
Most of my Goddess paintings were painted in 2013. My aim has always been to create our own Goddess Oracle deck. In 2014 I painted 7 of the Goddesses- I am writing this in June 2015, and so far, Isis has been on my easel since January– but she is a powerful, feisty Goddess and my painting has been challenging. I listen to her. She leads. Isis. A powerful and meaningful Goddess in our time. As always, I am honored at their presence, humbled to be a vessel …. full of gratitude to be chosen and curious to see where they will take me next…….
Blessed be, in Love and Light
